Here are our favorite MLB best bets and prop bets for Sunday, September 24th:
Toronto Blue Jays at Tampa Bay Rays (-112, 8.5)
Taj Bradley looked like a stud early in the season, but he really slowed down as the season went on. The righty should ultimately end up being a great piece in Tampa Bay’s rotation, but I like the idea of fading him in this spot. It’s just not outrageous to think that Bradley is experiencing some fatigue right now, and he now has to face a Blue Jays team that gave him trouble earlier in the season. Back on May 23rd, Toronto scored four runs on nine hits in only 4.0 innings against Bradley, and that was when the righty was pitching well and brimming with confidence. So, I do believe that the Jays will beat up on the youngster a bit in the early innings here. Meanwhile, Yusei Kikuchi should be fine in this outing, as long as he got his 14-15 hours of sleep. I’m not sure he’ll go out and dominate Tampa, but I do like his chances of turning in a quality start. That should be enough if Bradley keeps pitching the way he has been lately.
Bet: Blue Jays ML (-108)
Atlanta Braves (-245, 10) at Washington Nationals
Today’s meeting between the Braves and Nationals has one of the highest totals on the board and Atlanta is a significant favorite. With that in mind, I like the idea of turning to the Braves for some batter props. And I was a little surprised to see that you can get Matt Olson to go Over 1.5 total bases at plus-money odds. This season, Olson is batting .293 with two triples, 19 doubles and 43 homers against right-handed pitching, and he now gets to face an unproven one in Jackson Rutledge. So, I think this is a good opportunity for Olson to come away with an extra base hit, or even a homer. This isn’t one I’m trying to overthink either. These odds jumped off the page and I believe he’ll get it done.
Bet: Olson Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110)
Pittsburgh Pirates at Cincinnati Reds (-155, 10.5)
Brandon Williamson is on the mound for the Reds today, which has to have the Pirates excited about this game. Williamson has been struggling recently, giving up 11 earned runs in his last 14.0 innings on the mound. And he has allowed at least six hits in each of his last five starts. The lefty just isn’t in a good way at the moment, which is why I found it surprising that you can get Pittsburgh at such a good price to win this game. The Pirates also happen to be 16-12 against the money line against lefties this season, and the Reds are 1-10 after a five-game span in which their bullpen ERA was 7.00 or worse. So, not only does Cincinnati have to worry about Williamson’s performance, but the relievers are just as big of a threat to lose the Reds this game.
Bet: Pirates ML (+130)
