Normally, Adam Burke will have daily best bets to give you some ideas of what to back when it comes to moneylines, run lines and totals, while I focus on feeding you all player props. However, Adam is off on Sundays, so I’m tackling everything before we get back to our regularly scheduled programming tomorrow. Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Sunday, April 23:

Houston Astros at Atlanta Braves (-130, 7.5)

Christian Javier is 3-0 with a 3.68 ERA in four starts this season, but it’s hard not to give the starting pitching edge to Max Fried here. The lefty has given up just one earned run over 8.1 innings of work this year, and he’s fresh off a season in which he went 14-7 with a 2.48 ERA. Fried was also at his best when pitching at home, where he went 8-4 with a 2.42 ERA last year. That marked the second season in a row in which the lefty performed better in Atlanta, and it’s hard to ignore that he’s facing an Astros team that is currently without some key pieces in the lineup. So, with Atlanta having the better pitcher in this one, along with a healthier lineup, we’re keeping it simple and backing the home team.

Bet: Braves ML (-130)

Washington Nationals at Minnesota Twins (-255, 8.5)

Patrick Corbin is coming off a start in which he gave up only two earned runs over 6.0 innings, but the lefty has still been one of the most hittable pitchers in baseball this season. He’s just 1-2 with a 6.30 ERA this year, and he has given up at least seven hits in three of his four starts. And with Corbin continuing to struggle, it’s hard not to like some Twins to cash player props this afternoon. That’s why we’re rolling with Carlos Correa to have at least two total bases here. Correa is off to a tough start to the 2023 season, as he’s batting just .227 with two homers and eight RBIs. But a meeting with Corbin is the perfect medicine for that. And on top of this just being a matchup with Corbin, Correa has also mashed lefties throughout his career. He should turn in a nice day at the plate.

Bet: Correa Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115)

San Diego Padres (-145, 9) at Arizona Diamondbacks

Yu Darvish’s numbers aren’t outrageously bad this season, as the righty is 0-2 with a 3.44 ERA in three starts. But Darvish has also gotten pretty lucky to this point in the season. His barrel rate is down at 2.2%, while his hard hit rate is just 28.9%. Darvish is coming off back-to-back years in which his barrel rate was 8.8%, and his hard hit rate has been at least 34.0% in each of the last four seasons. With that in mind, those numbers are due to skyrocket, and it wouldn’t be surprising if that came against the Diamondbacks. Arizona’s lineup is a little better than people might think, and the Diamondbacks already got a look at Darvish earlier in the season. With that said, they should have a better approach against the righty here. And the Padres should also have some success against Drey Jameson, which is why the best play on this game is the over. There should be a lot of runs scored in the desert tonight.

Bet: Over 9 (-110)
