Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Wednesday, May 17th:

Pittsburgh Pirates at Detroit Tigers (-170, 7.5)

Eduardo Rodriguez has looked like an ace for the Tigers all season, as he is 4-2 with a 1.57 ERA. Rodriguez also has 47 strikeouts on the season, and he has really been heating up with his swing-and-miss stuff lately. Rodriguez comes into this game after having struck out 17 batters in his last two starts. With that in mind, we’re going to him to strike out at least six hitters against the Pirates.

Pittsburgh hasn’t been a team that has been striking out much this season, but the Pirates are also ice cold coming into this game. Pittsburgh is just 2-12 in its last 14 games and the team is struggling offensively, with the Pirates having scored three or fewer runs in 13 of their last 14. With that in mind, it’s hard to see Rodriguez not enjoying this matchup, and I think he’ll miss plenty of bats here.

Bet: Rodriguez Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-105)

Cincinnati Reds (-115, 11.5) at Colorado Rockies

The Reds are favored over the Rockies at Coors Field on Wednesday, and that’s usually where I like to start when attacking player props. And when looking at this specific matchup, it’s hard not to love Nick Senzel to come through at the plate against Austin Gomber. Not only is Gomber just 3-4 with a 6.30 ERA this season, but Senzel is batting a ridiculous .481 with two doubles, two homers and seven RBIs against southpaws this season.

Senzel has also reached two total bases in four of his last five games, and he is really in a nice groove right now. Look for him to do some damage in this game. This is one of my favorite plays of the season.

Bet: Senzel Over 1.5 Total Bases (-130)

Washington Nationals at Miami Marlins (-115, 7.5)

In yet another strikeout play for today, I like MacKenzie Gore to go out and whiff at least seven batters against the Marlins. Gore is coming off a game in which he struck out only three hitters against the New York Mets, but he should get back on track in a meeting with Miami. Gore has still had at least seven strikeouts in three of his last five starts, and his best work has come on the road this season.

The Marlins have also scored fewer runs against left-handed pitching than any team in the league this season, and the team is last in the league in wRC+ against southpaws. So, Miami is going to find it tough to get comfortable in this one, and Gore’s stuff should be a little overwhelming for the Marlins.

Bet: Gore Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+120)
