Best Bets on Today’s MLB Player Props Market
The 2023 MLB season is underway and VSiN has you covered with every way you can possibly bet on a baseball game. As always, Adam Burke will have daily best bets to give you some ideas of what to back when it comes to moneylines, run lines and totals. However, I’m tackling player props here, and I’m targeting Dansby Swanson, Lucas Giolito and Joey Meneses on Friday, April 28th. Keep reading to find out how I’m betting on each of them.

Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Friday, April 28:
Chicago Cubs at Miami Marlins (-110, 7.5)
Dansby Swanson was scorching hot to start the year, but he comes into this one on the heels of four consecutive games without a hit. Well, we like the 29-year-old to come bursting out of his slump tonight. Swanson hit .297 with 10 doubles and six RBIs against left-handed pitching last year, and he’s already doing a bit better against southpaws to start the 2023 season. With that in mind, it’s hard not to like that he’ll face Jesus Luzardo tonight.
Luzardo is off to a good start to the season for the Marlins, but Swanson has had some success against him in their brief head-to-head history. Swanson is 3 for 7 with a double in his at-bats against Luzardo, and we’re banking on either a couple of hits or an extra base hit here. At these odds, it’s absolutely worth taking a shot on.
Bet: Swanson Over 1.5 Total Bases (+140)
Tampa Bay Rays (-150, 8.5) at Chicago White Sox
Lucas Giolito just faced the Rays on April 23rd, when he gave up four earned runs over 7.0 innings of work. All things considered that start wasn’t that bad for Giolito. However, this Rays team has been extremely dangerous all season, so you’d have to expect they’ll make changes to their approach and come out ready to do some damage here.
No team in baseball has scored more runs than Tampa Bay this season, and the team is also first in MLB in isolated power, OPS, wRC and wRC+. This Rays team is just an absolute wagon, and it’s hard to see them not finding some success against Giolioto here. Giolito was also miserable when pitching in Chicago last season, as he was 5-7 with a 6.08 ERA.
Bet: Giolito Under 18.5 Outs Recorded (-160)
Pittsburgh Pirates (-135, 8.5) at Washington Nationals
The Pirates have been one of the best stories of the 2023 season, and Rich Hill has been a part of that. The lefty has given up just four earned runs over his last 17.0 innings of work, and he has struck out seven batters in back-to-back games. However, of all the things that have broken right for Pittsburgh, Hill’s early-season performance seems most likely to fade.
With Hill on the mound, one player we like on the player props market is Joey Meneses. The 30-year-old hit .366 with seven doubles, five homers and 11 RBIs against left-handed pitching last year. He absolutely mashes when facing southpaws, and the Nationals will be counting on him for some production here. With that in mind, this is a good spot to back him to drive in a run. The odds are outrageous given the matchup.
Bet: Meneses Over 0.5 RBIs (+165)
