Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Thursday, June 1st:

Philadelphia Phillies at New York Mets (-180, 8.5)

Max Scherzer has been in a nice groove after a slow start to the season, as the righty has now given up only two earned runs over his last 18.0 innings on the mound. But this matchup with the Phillies isn’t going to be easy for him. Scherzer has had some trouble with a few players in this lineup in the past, with one of them being Bryce Harper.

In his career against Scherzer, Harper is 6 for 20 with two doubles, there homers and four RBIs. With that in mind, he’s a threat to do some real damage against the righty, even if Scherzer is one of the best pitchers in baseball. Harper is also seeing the ball well right now, as he had two hits against New York on Wednesday.

This play carries a little bit of risk, but I’m taking a shot on Harper to have two total bases. I think there’s a real chance he goes for an extra base hit here. A homer wouldn’t surprise me either. Harper is a monster against right-handed pitching.

Bet: Harper Over 1.5 Total Bases (+100)

San Diego Padres (-120, 7.5) at Miami Marlins

The last three righties that the Marlins have faced have totaled 23 strikeouts against them. This Miami team has the ninth-highest strikeout rate in the league against righties, so it isn’t all that surprising. But all three of those starters would have gone over this strikeout total, so why can’t Joe Musgrove do the same?

Musgrove is just 2-2 with a 5.64 ERA this season, but he’s due to get himself going soon. And even if the 30-year-old is struggling, he’s still averaging about a strikeout an inning. So, he’d presumably go over tonight’s number if he doesn’t come out of this game a lot earlier than expected.

Musgrove also happened to have 13 strikeouts in two starts against the Marlins last season, and he had at least five in both.

Bet: Musgrove Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-155)

Los Angeles Angels at Houston Astros (-175, 8.5)

A lot of people expected a breakout season from Reid Detmers this year, but the lefty has had an up-and-down ride thus far. And one thing the lefty seems to do each start is give up a lot of hard contact. Detmers comes into tonight’s meeting with the Astros after having allowed at least six hits in five of his last seven starts. That makes it a little surprising that you can get him to give up six hits at plus-money odds tonight.

The last time Detmers faced the Astros was back on September 2nd, 2022, when he gave up seven hits against them. And while this Houston team has had its struggles this season, this lineup is still very dangerous. So, I think the Astros can come through with another six hits against the 23-year-old.

Bet: Detmers Over 5.5 Hits Allowed (+115)
