In the meantime, let's examine where smart money is leaning for Wednesday's MLB slate...

2:10 p.m. ET: Seattle Mariners (-210, 9.5) at Chicago White Sox

The Mariners (71-55) have won eight straight games and are 2-0 so far this series, taking the opener 14-2 as -200 road favorites and then winning again last night 6-3 as -145 road favorites. In this afternoon's series finale, the Mariners hand the ball to righty George Kirby (10-8, 3.23 ERA) and the White Sox (49-77) counter with fellow righty Michael Kopech (5-11, 5.12 ERA). This line opened with Seattle listed as a -190 road favorite and Chicago a +170 home dog. Pros are riding the hot hand and banking on Seattle to complete the sweep, steaming the Mariners up from -190 to -210. Seattle is receiving 86% of bets and 92% of money, signaling lopsided support from both Pros and Joes. Non-division road favorites off a win are 151-104 (59%) this season. Both teams are hitting roughly 240. The difference comes on the mound, with Seattle sporting a 3.69 ERA compared to 4.81 for Chicago. The Mariners are 7-3 in Kirby's last ten starts. Kirby has a 2.05 ERA in three August starts. On the flip side, the White Sox are 2-9 in Kopech's last 11 starts. Kopech has a 9.88 ERA in three August starts. This is also a motivational edge for Seattle, who currently occupies the third and final Wild Card spot in the American League and are also just one game back of the Rangers in AL West. Meanwhile, the White Sox are 22 games back in the AL Wild Card race and just fired their top two executives yesterday, Rick Hahn and Ken Williams.

8:10 p.m. ET: Boston Red Sox at Houston Astros (-120, 9)

The Astros (72-55) have taken the first two games of this four-game set, winning the opener 9-4 as -125 home favorites and then winning against last night 7-3 as -130 home favorites. In tonight's rematch, the Red Sox (66-60) start lefty Chris Sale (5-3, 4.50 ERA) and the Astros go with righty Jose Urquidy (2-3, 5.21 ERA). This line opened with Houston listed as low as a -110 home favorite and Boston a +100 road dog. Sharps have pounced on the Astros laying a short chalk price at home, steaming Houston up from -110 to -120. The Astros are receiving roughly 70% of bets and dollars, indicating both public and wiseguy support. Non-division home favorites off a win receiving 5-cents of steam or more are 134-79 (63%) this season. The Astros are 52-40 as a favorite, 35-29 at home and 49-30 against teams who missed the playoffs the previous year. Houston has also raked against lefties, going 23-14 against southpaws. Sale has a 5.20 ERA on the road (compared to 3.69 at home). Urquidy has a 4.35 ERA at home (compared to 6.23 on the road).
