In the meantime, let’s examine where smart money is leaning for Tuesday’s MLB slate…

7:05 p.m. ET: Cincinnati Reds at Baltimore Orioles (-140, 8.5)

The Orioles (48-29) took Monday night’s Interleague series opener 10-3, cruising as -130 home favorites. In tonight’s rematch, the Reds (41-38) hand the ball to rookie lefty Andrew Abbott (3-0, 1.14 ERA) and the Orioles counter with righty Tyler Wells (6-3, 3.22 ERA). This line opened with Baltimore listed as a -130 home favorite and Cincinnati a +120 road dog. The public is split down the middle and doesn’t know which side to take. However, despite this split ticket count we’ve seen the Orioles creep up from -130 to -140. This signals sharp money laying the chalk with Baltimore. The Orioles are only receiving 50% of bets but 63% of money, further evidence of smart money in their favor. Interleague favorites off a win are 116-60 (66%) this season, producing a 9% ROI. AL East favorites playing non-AL East teams are 130-56 (70%) with a 14% ROI. The Orioles are 27-7 as a favorite, 17-9 against lefties and 25-14 at home. Sharps are also leaning over, as the total is 8.5 with the over juiced to -115. The forecast calls for mid 70s with 5 MPH winds blowing out to right center. Both teams are 5-1 to the over in their last six games. The Reds are 46-33 (58%) to the over, the best over team in MLB.

8:10 p.m. ET: Cleveland Guardians (-135, 9) at Kansas City Royals

The Guardians (37-40) just dropped two of three at home against the Brewers, losing 5-4 in extra innings on Sunday as -110 home favorites. Meanwhile, the Royals (22-56) just split a four-game series at the Rays but lost Sunday’s finale 3-1 as +240 road dogs. In tonight’s series opener. Cleveland starts righty Gavin Williams (0-0, 6.35 ERA) and Kansas City goes with fellow righty Brady Singer (4-7, 6.34 ERA). This line opened with the Guardians listed as a -130 road favorite and the Royals a +120 home dog. Sharps have pounced on Cleveland laying the short chalk price, steaming the Guardians up from -130 to -135. When both teams are coming off a day off, as is the case here, the favorite is 68-38 (64%). The Guardians have the edge at the plate (hitting .247 vs .234) and on the mound (team ERA 3.84 vs 5.21). The Royals are 19-46 as a dog, 16-39 against righties and 10-28 at home. Pros have also leaned under, as the total has fallen from 9.5 to 9 at several shops. Cleveland is 44-30 (59%) to the under, the second best under team after the Padres. When two AL Central teams face off, the under is 34-22 (61%).
