In the meantime, let’s examine where smart money is leaning for today’s MLB slate…

1:10 p.m. ET: Boston Red Sox at Tampa Bay Rays (-215, 8)

The Rays (12-0) have taken the first three games of this four-game series and are coming off a 9-7 win on Wednesday, cashing as -135 home favorites. In this afternoon’s series finale, the Red Sox (5-7) hand the ball to righty Corey Kluber (0-2, 6.48 ERA) and the Rays counter with lefty Jeffrey Springs (2-0, 0.00 ERA). This line opened with Tampa Bay listed as low as a -155 home favorite and Boston a +140 road dog. Pros have gotten down hard on the Rays to complete the sweep, steaming the Rays up to -215. Tampa Bay is receiving roughly 70% of bets and dollars, signaling a combination of both sharp and public support. The Rays also have value as a favorite in a low total game (8), as the fewer amount of expected runs scored are more likely to come from the "better" team. Tampa Bay is 12-0 as a favorite and 9-0 at home. The Rays have the superior offense (.286 vs .244) and the better pitching (2.17 ERA vs 5.06 ERA). Boston has lost 12-straight games at Tropicana Field. Pros have also leaned over, as the total is 8 with the over juiced to -115, signaling a possible rise up to 8.5. Boston is 8-4 to the over. Tampa Bay is 8-3-1 to the over.

7:05 p.m. ET: Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees (-150, 8)

This is the first game of a four-game set. The Twins (8-4) just took two of three at home against the White Sox and are coming off a 3-1 win on Wednesday, taking care of business as -150 home favorites. Similarly, the Yankees (8-4) just won two of three at the Guardians and are coming off a 4-3 win yesterday, cashing as -115 road favorites. In tonight’s series opener, Minnesota taps righty Joe Ryan (2-0, 3.75 ERA) and New York rebuttals with fellow righty Jhony Brito (2-0, 0.90 ERA). This line opened with the Yankees listed as a -135 home favorite and the Twins a +125 road dog. Sharps have pounced on New York laying the short chalk, steaming the Yankees up from -135 to -150. Currently 80% of bets and 90% of money is backing New York, signaling a mix of public and sharp support. Non-division favorites receiving 10-cents of steam or more are 33-19 (64%) this season. The Yankees will lean on their advantage as the plate, hitting .249 compared to .236 for Minnesota. New York is 8-3 as a favorite. Minnesota is 0-3 as a dog. New York has owned Minnesota since 2015, going 34-12 (74%) including 21-3 (88%) at home.
