9:40 p.m. ET: Atlanta Braves (-150, 8.5) at San Diego Padres

The Braves (12-4) have won six straight games and just swept the Royals, winning 5-4 on Sunday as -150 road favorites. On the flip side, the Padres (8-9) just dropped three of four at home against the Brewers, losing 1-0 yesterday as -170 home favorites. In tonight’s series opener, Atlanta hands the ball to lefty Max Fried (0-0, 2.70 ERA) and San Diego counters with fellow southpaw Ryan Weathers (1-0, 2.70 ERA). This line opened with the Braves listed as a -145 road favorite and the Padres a +130 home dog. Pros have laid the chalk with the Braves, pushing Atlanta up from -145 to -150. Some shops are even inching up to -155. Atlanta is receiving roughly 70% of bets and dollars, signaling a combination of public and sharp support. Non-division road favorites are 37-18 (67%) this season. Non-division favorites coming off a win are 50-27 (65%). The Braves are 4-1 against lefties this season and 41-18 (70%) since 2022. Atlanta has the edge at the plate (.274 vs .231) and on the mound (3.75 ERA vs 4.21 ERA). The Braves are +24 in run differential. San Diego is -2.

 

9:40 p.m. ET: Chicago Cubs (-140, 8) at Oakland Athletics

The Cubs (8-6) just took two of three at the Dodgers, winning 3-2 on Sunday as +195 road dogs. Meanwhile, the Athletics (3-13) just got swept at home by the Mets, losing 4-3 yesterday as +140 home dogs. In tonight’s Interleague series opener, Chicago starts righty Jayden Wesneski (0-0, 7.50 ERA) and Oakland rebuttals with lefty Kyle Muller (0-0, 5.52 ERA). This line opened with the Cubs listed as a -135 road favorite and the Athletics a +120 home dog. Pros have jumped on the Cubs at a relatively cheap price, driving Chicago up from -135 to -140. The Cubs are receiving 82% of bets and 90% of money, indicating a heavy combination of Pro and Joe support. Interleague favorites are 37-19 (66%) this season. The Cubs have the better offense (.274 vs .235) and superior pitching (3.58 ERA vs 7.60 ERA). Chicago also has the more rested bullpen (9 innings pitched over past 3 games vs 12.1 for Oakland). The Cubs are 4-2 as a favorite and 3-2 on the road. The Athletics are 3-13 as a dog and 2-7 at home. Chicago is +16 in run differential. Oakland is -63, the worst in MLB.
