Mason, Swanigan featured in Sweet 16 props

It’s not a one-on-one matchup, but the spotlight will be on Frank Mason III and Caleb Swanigan when the stars collide Thursday in the NCAA Sweet 16.

Mason, a senior point guard, leads top-seeded Kansas against Purdue and its sophomore power forward known as “Biggie.” Swanigan and Mason are leading candidates for college basketball Player of the Year honors. The Jayhawks are 5-point favorites.

The Boilermakers won the Big Ten regular-season championship, and Michigan won the Big Ten tournament. Both teams are in action in the Midwest Region semifinals in Kansas City. The Wolverines are 1½-point favorites over Oregon in the night’s first game.
