NFL owners voted on Tuesday to expand the number of playoff teams from 12 to 14, with seven coming from each conference. There will be four division winners and three Wild Card teams per conference, up from two Wild Card teams in previous years. Only the No. 1 seeds will receive first-round byes. The No. 2 seeds will host the No. 7 seeds in the first round.
Wild Card weekend, which was already one of the best betting weekends of the season, will now feature a triple-header on both Saturday and Sunday with six games total during the weekend. The new playoff format will take effect this season.
