The Xpressbet analyst offers his plays every Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Sash was scratched and Castle Gate ran out.
KEENELAND – 9th RACE. POST TIME: 5:30 ET
3 – Art Collector (5-1)
Sophomore colt tries to take his most important step yet on the road to the Kentucky Derby in this nine-furlong Grade-2 event and based on his rapid recent improvement the Bernardini colt should be up to the task. His most recent win—an overnight allowance race that earned a career top triple-digit Beyer speed figure—came at the expense of subsequent Indiana Derby winner Shared Sense and was accomplished with ease and dominance. Regular rider B.J. Hernandez, Jr. stays aboard the colt that has won on the front end or off the pace, so he can pick any spot he wants from his favorable inside draw and move when he wants to. At 5-1 on the morning line, let's make this Tom Drury-trained colt a strong win play and rolling exotic single.
DEL MAR – 10th RACE. POST TIME: 6:30 ET
5 – Nurse Goodbody (3-1)
Found her best stride too late when rallying to be second in a similar maiden turf router in late May at Santa Anita and then was an also-eligible scratch last month while working steadily right along, so we’re expecting the late-developing 4-year-old daughter of Kitten’s Joy to be fit and ready for a career best performance. Hot-riding Umberto Rispoli got to know her last time out, stays aboard, and should give her the patient ride she needs. There’s good value at her morning line of 3-1 if you can get it.
