Jeff Siegel's Best Bets: Another filly fanatic

MONMOUTH PARK RACE 9. Post time: 4:06 ET
6-Nay Lady Nay (5/2)
Didn’t get the clearest of runs in her comeback in the Mint Julip Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs, lacking a clear path most of the way and winding up eighth of 14 while beaten only two lengths. This graded stakes-winning filly should benefit greatly from the outing and be at her best in this year’s edition of the Matchmaker Stakes. A winner last year over the Monmouth Park turf course and reunited with “win rider” Paco Lopez, the Chad Brown-trained filly has good tactical speed and strong late kick that should return her to the winner’s circle.
SARATOGA RACE 10. Post time: 6:16 ET
6-Paris Lights (2-1)
The lightly raced and improving sophomore filly has the perfect stalking style for this nine-furlong distance and can dictate the race flow from her cozy outside draw. A winner of two of three career starts, the last two by daylight in dominating style, the William Mott-trained daughter of Curlin should get nothing but better with experience and maturity. While this will be her first appearance in a stakes race, she should be able to take the class hike in stride. She’s the second choice on the morning line at 2-1, and we’ll take that if we can get it.
