Illinois bettor cashes for $1.1M, thanks to Morikawa's PGA win

One Chicago area bettor won more than $1 million on weekend bets at

That's in large part because of golfer Collin Morikawa's victory Sunday in the Workday Charity Open in Dublin, Ohio.

Here's how the bettor did it:

  • $4,000 on Morikawa ( 5000) to lead after RD1: $204,000
  • $28,025.84 on Morikawa ( 750) to finish Top 5: $238,217.09
  • $10,000 on Morikawa ( 2800) to win event: $290,000
  • Additional winning bets on UFC 251 and Spanish La Liga soccer

The bettor cashed in for $1.1 million -- about the same amount Morikawa received for winning the tour event in a playoff with Justin Thomas.
