Friday Kentucky Oaks Day Best Bets at Churchill Downs

Mr. Ed hopes everyone is enjoying the VSiN Kentucky Derby Betting Guide, but we know a lot of people are also playing the Kentucky Oaks card on Friday, so let’s go over the card and try to build a bankroll for Derby Day on Saturday.

Races 1-2 (10:30 a.m. ET/7:30 a.m. PT)

Mr. Ed begins the wagering with a $2 Daily Double

Race 1: 7,8

Race 2: 2,9,11 (cost $12)

Race 4 (12:05 p.m. ET/9:05 a.m. PT)

I like #13 Into Disco (6-1 morning line). Trainer Riley Mott sends out improving daughter of superior sire Into Mischief and Disco Barbie. Winner of her last two at Oaklawn, she cuts back to one-turn mile and picks up services of journeyman Junior Alvarado. Look for filly to dance in the winner’s circle. Wager: $10 to Win. ($10)

Races 4-6 (12:05 p.m. ET/9:05 a.m. PT)

I’ll take a rare shot at a mid-card $1 Pick 3 (cost $27)

Race 4: 4,9,13

Race 5: 1,2,7

Race 6: 6,7,8

Race 5 (12:43 p.m. ET/9:43 a.m. PT)

Mr. Ed likes a trio: #1 Art Collector (5-2 morning line), #2 Last Samurai (4-1) and #7 West Will Power (2-1). Defeat of last year’s Derby bomber #3 Rich Strike holds key to value payoff. Wager: $5 Exacta Box of 1,2,7. ($30)

Race 6 (1:26 p.m. ET/10:26 a.m. PT)

I like #8 New Year’s Eve (5-1 morning line). Winner of Grade 2 Edgewood on oval a year ago, fit closer regains saddle services of Luis Saez. Trainer Walsh on top of his game. Break out the bubbly. Wager: $10 Win. ($10)

Races 8-11 (3:03 p.m. ET/12:03 p.m. PT)

Mr. Ed will bet a $.50 Pick 4 ($40)

Race 8: 11

Race 9: 1,2,4,9,10

Race 10: 2,5,9,11

Race 11: 3,6,7,14

Race 11 (5:51 p.m. 2:51 p.m. PT)

Closing the day on a high note, Mr. Ed likes a $4 Oaks-Derby Daily Double (cost $64)

Race 11-today (Oaks): 3,6,7,14

Race 12-Saturday (Derby): 2,3,4,14
