LAS VEGAS – The finals of the $190,000 Friday Football Showdown at the Golden Nugget has been set with Mucked Nuts taking on DMill.

One of this past weekend’s semifinals was decided in record time while the other semi had to wait until Monday Night Football.

DMill, the alias of Las Vegas advantage player David Miller, clinched his victory last Saturday when he won with the UAB-Ohio under 59 on Friday and then with the Colts plus-13.5 against the Ravens on Saturday while Ed From Vegas went 0-3 with Central Michigan plus-3 on Friday and then Texas Tech plus-3 against South Florida in the Birmingham Bowl and the Packers plus-9 against the Vikings on Saturday night.

Golden Nugget players make seven picks from NFL and NCAA football games, with sides and totals available, but with three common plays and DMill already holding the tiebreaker, there was no way for Ed From Vegas to catch him.

The other semifinal was between Mucked Nuts (the alias of defending champion Chris Kozak) and Tha Good Playa (professional sports bettor and WSOP bracelet winner Brandon Wittmeyer). Mucked Nuts was 4-1 after Sunday’s action while Tha Good Playa was 3-2 but with a chance to rally; however, Mucked Nuts clinched the victory with his play on the Eagles-Raiders Under 47.5 points, which was never in doubt in the Eagles’ 19-10 victory (as opposed to the point spread).

DMill and Mucked Nuts will submit their 7 plays by the 2 p.m. PT Friday deadline at the Golden Nugget and then their plays will be announced on The Las Vegas Sportsline show from 2-3 p.m. PT on ESPN AM-1100 and lvsportsnetwork.com. The best record wins with the seventh play used as a tiebreaker. If both win (or lose or push), then the tiebreaker moves in reverse order of their picks. If still tied after the first pick, then it would go to whose team covered (or didn’t cover) by the most points with the best bet and again working toward the first pick.

Again, we’ll post the finalists’ plays after the radio show on Friday and track the results through the weekend until a champion is crowned.

Here’s a look at the four semifinalists’ plays this past weekend (note: all four took both the Bengals and Titans – and both covered):

The Friday Football Showdown drew 95 entries this year at $2,000 apiece with the top 16 records from the 12-week preliminary rounds advancing to a bracket-style tournament the rest of the football season. All playoff qualifiers earned $3,000 with the top four records earning an additional $3,000. Tha Good Playa earned an additional $2,000 (for a total of $8,000) for being the No. 1 seed. The top four records also received double-byes through the first two weeks of head-to-head matchups to land in the quarterfinals while the winners of the first two playoff rounds earned an additional $1,000 per victory.

This weekend’s losers, Wittmeyer and Ed From Vegas, earned an additional $6,000 this past weekend while the winners advance to next Friday’s finale with $60,000 going to the winner and $30,000 to the runner-up.
