Gaming giant Houssels dead

Gaming Hall of Fame inductee John Kell Houssels Jr., former owner of Tropicana and top executive with the El Cortez, Showboat and Union Plaza, has died.

Houssels, born in 1922, was a longtime member of the Nevada Ballet Theatre, which was founded by his wife, Nancy. They were married almost 60 years.

His father J.K. Houssels, Sr. received one of the first gaming licenses in Nevada.
