Maybe this is finally their year. The Washington Capitals have a dark, disappointing history in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but past failures mean nothing now.
Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals are 3-1 favorites to win the Stanley Cup, according to odds posted at the Westgate sports book. Washington has looked like the NHL’s top team for months, and now is the time to prove it.
Chicago, the top seed in the Western Conference, is the second choice at 5-1 odds. The Blackhawks won the Cup in 2010, 2013 and 2015.
The defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins are in action when the postseason begins Wednesday.
