Bristol is sure to offer a significant uptick in close racing and tight quarters as the series takes on Thunder Valley on Sunday. Bristol has been the epicenter of driver tensions for many years, which often plays a major role in the outcome. Keeping the car mostly intact is paramount to being in contention to win the race.
Kyle Busch has been very strong with seven career wins at Bristol along with two wins in the last six races there. As much of a force as he has been, Busch’s average finishes have been marred by three DNFs in the same six-race span. One of the more interesting drivers this weekend is Kyle Larson with four top-10 finishes in a row at Bristol. However, Kyle Larson is also is the owner of the worst return on investment (-16 units) of any matchup driver this season. Larson ended his run up to the start of the race by finishing 23rd over a 10-lap average in happy hour.
Kevin Harvick has been the picture of success, leading all drivers with 226 total points in the last six races at Bristol. He was fourth fastest over the long run in happy hour. The track transition has been slow, however, the racing groove seemed to be coming in pretty well during the Xfinity race, which should support the drivers who prefer to run that line during the race.
Below are the selections that made the cut for this weekend.
