The VSiN EPL BetCast returns on Saturday with a top-of-the-table clash between runaway leaders Manchester City and Champions League-chasing Leicester City (kick-off 12:30 p.m. EST) from The Kingpower Stadium.
City have won an amazing 17 of their last 18 Premier League matches and it's no surprise that they are -175 favorites to win this match, but taking the short price on Pep Guardiola's side does come with slight caution.
City, are desperate for the Champions League trophy this season, and on Tuesday they host Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-final, the first leg in their pursuit of the holy grail. There’s no doubt that match will take priority over this one with team selection and performance, and I would expect to see a lot of first-team regulars rested.
The advantage for City over every other team in the EPL is that their squad is so big and full of international quality that they are more than capable of winning this match with their reserves.
Leicester are + 550 for the win, but they have a poor home record despite their lofty league position. They have won just six of their 14 home matches and they have key players missing for this one with Harvey Barnes out, James Maddison facing a fitness test and Jamie Vardy struggling to score goals.
Leicester produced their best performance of the season in the reverse fixture, winning 5-2, and a repeat of that scoreline is 400/1; I am confident that lightning won't strike twice on that correct score. Since that heavy defeat, City have conceded just 15 goals in 28 matches and that defensive strength is the difference between them and City sides from previous years.
I’m going to go against the public on this one and I am taking under 2.5 goals, which is available at -110. I’m expecting City to come out on top with a professional 1-0 or 2-0 win. With both scorelines available at 6-1 odds, it’s worth a couple of small wagers with the thought that City’s priority will be to get everyone fit and well for Dortmund on Tuesday.
Sergio Aguero announced that he will be leaving the Etihad at the end of the season and the Argentinian is expected to lead the City attack on Saturday. I really like the + 130 on Aguero scoring at anytime in this match, and he is also worth playing small at + 350 to score the first goal.
