We’ve been tinkering with the Artificial Intelligence programs at 1/ST BET, which gives us more than 50 data points (such as speed, pace, class, jockey, trainer and pedigree stats) for every race based on how you like to handicap.
Last Saturday, we won with Gamine ($2.70) in the Grade 1 Ballerina at Saratoga to get our record back to .500 at 12-of-24 overall since taking over this feature. Based on a $2 Win bet on the A.I. Pick of the Week, that’s $48 in wagers and payoffs totalling $53.50 for a respectable ROI of $2.23 for every $2 wagered.
This week, I ran Saturday’s plays from me and my handicapping friends in my “Tuley’s Thoroughbred Takes” column at vsin.com/horses through the 1/ST BET programs and came up with our A.I. Pick of the Week:
Saturday, Sept. 4
Saratoga Race No. 10 (5:37 p.m. ET/2:37 p.m. PT)
#3 Ducale (5-2 ML odds)
Ducale ranks 1st in a whopping 16 of the 52 factors used by 1/ST BET A.I.
This 3-year-old colt also ranks 1st in 8 of the “Top 15 Factors” at betmix.com, including speed in last race, best average speed last 3 races, best speed at the track and best trainer winning percentage (Brad Cox).
He also ranks in the Top 5 in 5 of the other 7 categories, including best speed at the distance, best turn time and best trainer/jockey win percentage.
