We’ve been tinkering with the Artificial Intelligence programs at 1/ST BET, which gives us more than 50 data points (such as speed, pace, class, jockey, trainer and pedigree stats) for every race based on how you like to handicap.
Last Saturday, we lost with Domestic Spending in the Mister D. Stakes at Arlington Park, but our record is still 10-of-22 overall since taking over this feature. Based on a $2 Win bet on the A.I. Pick of the Week, that’s $44 in wagers and payoffs totalling $47.70 for a respectable ROI of $2.17 for every $2 wagered.
This week, I ran Saturday’s plays from me and my handicapping friends in my “Tuley’s Thoroughbred Takes” column at vsin.com/horses through the 1/ST BET programs and came up with our A.I. Pick of the Week:
Saturday, Aug. 21
Saratoga Race No. 10 (6:13 p.m. ET/3:13 p.m. PT)
#6 Malathaat (6-5 ML odds)
Malathaat ranks 1st in 15 of the 52 factors used by 1/ST BET A.I.
This 3-year-old filly also ranks 1st in 7 of the “Top 15 Factors” at betmix.com, including top win percentage, best average speed in last three races and best average lifetime earnings.
He also ranks in the Top 5 in 5 of the other 8 categories, including best speed at the track and average off-track earnings. And we also get the classic combo of trainer Todd Pletcher and jockey John Velazquez.
