We’ve been tinkering with the Artificial Intelligence programs at 1/ST BET, which gives us more than 50 data points (such as speed, pace, class, jockey, trainer and pedigree stats) for every race based on how you like to handicap.

Last Saturday, we lost with Smile Happy to drop below the .500 at 25-for-51 since taking over this feature about a year ago. Based on a $2 Win bet on the A.I. Pick of the Week, that’s $102 in wagers and payoffs totaling $99.90 for an ROI of $1.96 for every $2 wagered.

This week, I ran the races picked by our stable of handicapping friends at “Team Tuley’s Thoroughbred Takes” through the 1/ST BET programs and came up with our A.I. Pick of the Week:

Saturday, April 16, 2022

Oaklawn Race No. 11 (6:42 p.m. ET/3:42 p.m. PT)

#5 Jackie’s Warrior (6-5 ML odds)

* Jackie’s Warrior ranked 1st in a whopping 26 of the 52 factors used by 1/ST BET A.I.

* The Steve Assmussen trainee makes his 4-year-old debut and also ranks 1st in 11 of the “Top 15 Factors” at betmix.com, including best lifetime speed, best average speed in last 3 races, best speed on a fast track, best speed at the distance, best speed on a fast track, highest average earnings at the track and highest average earnings at the distance.

* He also ranks 2nd in percentage of horses beaten and best trainer win percentage the past 2 years (Asmussen), plus 3rd in best jockey win percentage the past 2 years (Joel Rosario).

PRO TIPS

A Numbers Game: Reminder that when it comes to more popular teams (i.e. UConn), there’s not a huge rush to grab futures bets preseason. They were 18/1 then to win a national championship, and were 15/1 right before the tournament. View more tips.
