We’ve been tinkering with the Artificial Intelligence programs at 1/ST BET, which gives us more than 50 data points (such as speed, pace, class, jockey, trainer and pedigree stats) for every race based on how you like to handicap.
Last Saturday, we lost with Arrest Me Red at Gulfstream to drop us back to .500 at 24-for-48 since taking over this feature about a year ago. Based on a $2 Win bet on the A.I. Pick of the Week, that’s $96 in wagers and payoffs totaling $97.70 for an ROI of $2.04 for every $2 wagered.
This week, I ran the races picked by our stable of handicapping friends at “Team Tuley’s Thoroughbred Takes” through the 1/ST BET programs and came up with our A.I. Pick of the Week:
Saturday, March 26, 2022
Fair Grounds No. 11 (6:12 p.m. ET/3:12 p.m. PT)
#1 Echo Zulu (3-5 ML odds)
* We were looking for a higher-priced play this week, but Echo Zulu ranks 1st in a whopping 34 of the 52 factors used by 1/ST BET A.I. (and maybe her odds drift higher).
* The 3-year-old daughter of Gun Runner also ranks 1st in 7 of the “Top 15 Factors” at betmix.com, including average speed in last 3 races, average race class, average purse in last 3 races.
* Echo Zulu also ranks in the Top 5 in 7 of the other 8 factors, including average earnings at the track, jockey at the current meet (Joel Rosario) and trainer win percentage the past 2 years (Steve Asmussen).
